Attorney Rose Shingledecker concentrates her practice in the areas of nonprofit organizations, business law, and appeals.
Prior to joining Smith Rayl Law Office, LLC as a member of the firm, Rose served for two years as a law clerk to The Honorable L. Mark Bailey of the Indiana Court of Appeals. During law school, she completed an internship with The Honorable Tim A. Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. She also worked as a part-time legal assistant with Smith Rayl, a research assistant at the Ruth Lilly Law Library, and as a summer associate at the Indianapolis law firm of Lewis & Kappes.
Rose earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2014 where she was an editor of the Indiana Law Review. Her student note, which examined the First Amendment issues eventually decided by the United States Supreme Court in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., was selected for publication. Rose earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from DePauw University in 2004, where she was an Honor Scholar and inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Before law school, Rose worked a variety jobs in the public and private sectors, including an eight-year career at The Indianapolis Public Library. She has served on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations.
When not serving clients, Rose enjoys reading fiction and volunteering in the Indianapolis community. Rose is especially active in the Garfield Park area where she and her family live. She serves as director and treasurer of the Garfield Park Neighbors Association.
Rose is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association.
